Artist Biography

My name is Sarah Butler and I am an Artist and Illustrator based in Devon. Drawing has been my passion for as long as I've been able to hold a pencil! I graduated from Falmouth University in 2015, where I studied BA (hons) Drawing. I am also a member of The Society of Graphic Fine Art (SGFA), the only UK Society dedicated exclusively to drawing.

 

I have always been drawn to detail, and much of my work is highly intricate. My work is constantly evolving, and I like to work with different subjects and mediums, though I'd say my main specialism is in penwork. I capture a range of subjects from detailed, more realistic, animals and plants to illustrations of a more whimsical imagined nature. I'd say I draw most of my inspiration from nature, honing in on the tiniest details, textures and patterns.
